About Us

Welcome to Mencry

Hello, and welcome to Mencry.

Who I am isn’t necessarily important right now. You’re here because you’re looking for something—perhaps support, understanding, somewhere to talk, or simply somewhere you don’t feel alone. Whatever brought you here, you’re welcome.

Mencry was created from my own experiences with mental health and some incredibly difficult periods in my life. I’ve experienced the police, spent time in a police cell, and spent a night in a Section 136 place of safety in Plymouth. I’ve experienced what it feels like to reach a point where you don’t know what else to do or where else to turn.

I’ve also struggled with self-injury and have had many ambulance attendances over the years. I’ve tried different ways of coping, including alcohol and medication. Looking back, I know that some of those things can feel like a quick fix, but they don’t necessarily address what is underneath the pain.

I’m not a mental-health professional, and Mencry isn’t here to replace professional medical care. I’m simply someone who has been through some very difficult experiences and understands what it can feel like when you’re struggling.

I also believe that sometimes the things we do in everyday life can make a difference. Hobbies, interests, creativity, getting outside, talking to someone, and having something to focus on can all give us something to hold onto. They won’t magically fix everything, but sometimes even small things can help us get through another day.

You’re not alone

One of the reasons I’m creating Mencry is because I don’t want people to feel that they have to suffer completely alone.

I’m adding a forum to this website where people from anywhere can come together, share their experiences, talk about the things they’re going through, and hopefully support one another.

You don’t have to have the perfect words. You don’t have to pretend that everything is okay.

You can simply be yourself.

Everyone is welcome, and I hope Mencry can become a place where people feel comfortable saying the things they might otherwise keep bottled up.

This is Mencry. A place to talk, listen, share and, hopefully, feel a little less alone.

Mencry Disclaimer

Just a small disclaimer before you get started.

Mencry is my personal blog and community forum, created to give people a place to talk, share experiences and express themselves away from the pressures of mainstream social media and other apps.

Within reasonable boundaries, you’re welcome to talk about the things that matter to you. My hope is that Mencry can provide a supportive environment where you can share your thoughts and experiences without feeling that everyone you know is watching or judging you.

However, Mencry is an online community, and I cannot guarantee complete privacy or confidentiality. Please think carefully about sharing personal information that could identify you or someone else.

The views, experiences and opinions posted on Mencry belong to the individuals who post them. I am not responsible for what other members choose to write, share or do, nor can I accept responsibility for any actions someone may take based on content found on this website.

Mencry is not a substitute for professional medical or mental-health advice, diagnosis or treatment. If you are in immediate danger or believe you may hurt yourself or someone else, please seek urgent professional help.

Most importantly, please be respectful of other people. Everyone who comes here has their own story, and you never know what someone else may be going through.

Welcome to Mencry. I hope you find somewhere here where you can talk openly, feel heard and perhaps feel a little less alone.

About

Please grab a drink sit back, relax and have a little read.

I’m 41 years old, and my own experiences are a big part of why I created Mencry.

In February 2024, my wife left me unexpectedly. On that very same day, my father passed away. Having two life-changing events happen within hours of each other completely turned my world upside down.

Life has been incredibly difficult ever since, and even now I don’t always feel that I’m getting the level of support I need.

Imagine finding the person you believe is the girl of your dreams, building a life together and being married for a while, only for everything to go from completely normal to absolutely nothing in less than 24 hours.

There have been further difficult discoveries along the way. More recently, a friend told me they had come across my former wife on a swingers website. Whatever the circumstances behind that, hearing it was another difficult thing to process.

I’m sharing this because I know I cannot be the only man who has experienced heartbreak, grief, loneliness, confusion or simply felt like nobody really understands what he is going through.

That is why Mencry exists.

I want Mencry to be a place where men can talk honestly about the things they are going through, without feeling judged or ashamed. Sometimes being able to say “I’m not okay” is the first step towards feeling a little less alone.
